Overview

The three ways marketplaces go wrong

A marketplace is not a bigger store. These are the failures we get called in to fix.

  • 01

Vendors sign up and never list anything

The onboarding is a wall of WordPress. If a seller cannot get their first product live in ten minutes, they never come back.

  • 02

Payouts are done by hand in a spreadsheet

It works for five vendors and breaks at fifty. Commission errors turn into refund arguments, and the founder becomes an accounts department.

  • 03

Nobody trusts the sellers, so nobody buys

No verification, no reviews, no dispute process, so buyers stay on the marketplace they already know.

What you get

Everything below is marketplace-specific. None of it comes free with a theme.

Vendor onboarding people finish

A registration and store-setup flow designed so a seller lists their first product the same day, with the WordPress admin kept out of sight.

Vendor dashboards that do the job

Products, orders, shipping, coupons, earnings and withdrawals. The seller runs their own shop without emailing you.

Commission and payout rules that hold

Global, per-vendor, per-category or per-product commissions, with split payments via Stripe Connect or PayPal Payouts and automated withdrawals.

Trust: verification, reviews, disputes

Vendor verification, seller and product reviews, a refund and dispute path, and the admin tools to run it.

An admin side you can operate

Approve vendors, moderate listings, resolve disputes, see marketplace-wide revenue, and export what your accountant needs.

Scale considerations from day one

Search and filtering that survives 50,000 products, sensible database indexes, and caching that does not break vendor dashboards.

Every build also includes

  • Responsive on every device
  • Speed optimized
  • Security hardened
  • 3 months free maintenance
  • 24/7 support

45 minutes. No obligation. You talk to the developer.

What is in, and what is not

The second list is the useful one. Nobody puts it on a services page, and it is the fastest way to know whether we are a fit.

  • Custom vendor registration and onboarding flow
  • Commission models and split payment integration
  • Vendor verification and KYC-style document flows
  • Custom vendor dashboard modules
  • Marketplace-wide search, filters and taxonomies
  • Custom plugin work for rules Dokan does not cover
  • Hosting, server setup and launch

Not included

  • Customer support operations after launch

How a marketplace gets built

Marketplaces are scoped around flows, not pages. We build and test each flow with real accounts.

  • Call and flow mapping45-60 minWe map the three flows that matter: how a vendor joins, how money splits, and what happens when an order goes wrong. Written scope and fixed price within 24 hours.
  • Platform and vendor flow2-4 weeksWebsite gets built according to your design or we design and build for you, Dokan configured, registration and onboarding built, vendor dashboard tailored. You get a staging link and a test vendor login.
  • Payments, commissions, trust1-2 weeksSplit payouts connected, commission rules applied, verification, reviews and disputes wired up, then tested with real transactions.
  • Load, launch and handover3-5 daysSearch and filtering checked against a realistic catalogue, then launch, plus an admin walkthrough covering approvals, disputes and payouts.

The marketplace stack

Dokan is the default. WCFM when your commission or membership model needs it.

Marketplaces almost always need one rule that no plugin implements. Writing that plugin is included in the build. It is the part of this work we are known for.

Multi-vendor Marketplace

Wakuda

A shared marketplace for independent African and Caribbean brands: hundreds of vendors listing and shipping their own products through one checkout, with payouts running themselves.

My experience with Imrul is amazing. I have been working with him for an extended period of time. He has worked on numerous websites and projects and always seems to deliver. He communicates well, is knowledgeable about different plugins, and always gets the job done.

Gregory Gadson, Series Founder

Great experience. We were looking for a simple solution to our problem and found mswebarts. Im definetely not the easiest client when it comes to questions & custom solutions, but can’t remember he didn’t answer one of those.

We ship our own products

Your site is built by a team that ships its own plugins

Breview and Opproval are our own WordPress products, sold, supported and updated for customers who are not us. Writing software that has to survive strangers’ servers, plugin conflicts and five years of WordPress releases is a different discipline from assembling a theme.

Your project gets the same discipline.

Breview ProA better review system for WooCommerce: photo reviews, moderation and reminders that stores actually pay for.
OpprovalLets customers confirm their own delivery, cutting “where is my order” tickets at the source.
Custom plugin and theme on requestWhen your theme or plugin does not do it out of the box, we customise what you already run, or write the missing piece ourselves.

Questions about this service

General questions about working with us are answered on the Services page.

Dokan for most marketplaces: better vendor experience, better module ecosystem, easier for your sellers. WCFM when you need complex memberships or unusual commission structures. We recommend one on the call and tell you what it costs you either way.

Stripe Connect or PayPal Payouts split each order at the moment of sale, so your commission and the vendor’s share separate automatically. Withdrawals can be scheduled or on request, with thresholds and a payout log.

Yes. Each vendor gets their own shipping rules, zones and fulfilment view. Marketplace-wide rules can override them where you need consistency.

Both work. Bookings-based service marketplaces and download-based digital marketplaces are common builds. The vendor and payout logic is the same; only the product model changes.

This is a build decision, not an afterthought. Search, filtering, indexes and caching are set up for the catalogue size you are aiming at, and we test against a realistic dataset before launch.

Yes. We start with an audit so you know what is salvageable before committing to anything.
